Quebec Skilled Worker

Quebec is one of the most famous provinces of Canada. Coming second to Ontario, it is counted as the most populous Canadian province. Predominantly, French is the most spoken language in the province as it is home to large anglophone communities. Even though the official language is French, a large community speaks English. Well-known for giving the European feel and buzzy nightlife, Montreal is a modernized city in Quebec.

Most of the residents live in urban areas near the Saint Lawrence River between Montreal and Quebec City. The province – Quebec is in an agreement with the Federal Government to administer their separate Quebec Skilled Worker immigration program, and applicants are issued ITAs based upon the provincial criteria. Once the provincial government of Quebec approves, the candidates are provided with a Selection Certificate, and an application is submitted to IRCC – Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada for Permanent Residency.

How Does The Program Work?

The Quebec Skilled Worker Program has precise qualifying criteria based on the province’s culture. The applicants can bring along their spouse and dependent children on their application.

Even though there is no official list of occupations eligible for this program, those aspiring to migrate through this pathway can research the professions that are in-demand in Quebec. Once an applicant meets the criteria set by the immigration authorities of Quebec, they qualify for the program, regardless of their expertise and field of work.

Applicants that succeed through the Quebec immigration selection system are issued a Quebec Selection certificate by the provincial government. At this point, they can apply for a Permanent Residency in Canada.

Initially, to qualify for a Quebec Selection Certificate, the applicants are required to score a minimum of 49 points based on the set criteria. Moreover, if the applicant has a spouse coming along for a residency, they need to secure a minimum of 57 points.
